FAQ - HCG

WHAT IS THE HCG DIET?

The HCG weight loss protocol consists of a very low calorie diet (VLCD) accompanied by treatments of HCG, usually by injection. The average HCG dieter experiences rapid weight loss averaging 1 to 3 pounds per day. In addition to the loss of unwanted fat, the true benefit of the HCG protocol is its ability to help modify the dieter’s relationship with food and eating, resulting in easily maintained long-term weight loss.

WHAT IS HCG?

HCG stands of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone present in both men and women but which is produced in great amounts in pregnant females. During pregnancy, the substance almost completely controls the woman’s metabolic functions. In non-pregnant persons, research suggests HCG similarly increases the metabolism similar to a pregnant female’s. Thousands of calories in stored fat are released, and are used by the body or expelled. To keep the fat cells from immediately taking in more fat, the very low fat VLCD is necessary and personal care products such as lotion are prohibited.

Dr. A.T.W. Simeons’ research suggests a small amount of HCG injected daily results in an average weight loss of 1 to 2 lbs a day when accompanied by a VLCD.

HOW MUCH WEIGHT CAN I LOSE?

Patients can lose 20-30 pounds during a 40 day treatment, which consists of 20 days of HCG injections and 20 days of a “maintenance phase” designed to help you continue to develop new, healthy eating habits while continuing to lose weight. Patients requiring the loss of more weight can have a second or even more courses. A second course can be started after an interval of not less than six weeks, though the pause can be more than six weeks after your last HCG injection. Your physician will work with you on determining the appropriate duration of your treatment based on your weight loss goals.

With our HCG diet program, you can not only lose weight but learn new, healthy eating habits to help you keep it off!

WHAT CAN I EAT ON THE HCG DIET?

DIET DAYS 1-2

On the first two days of your HCG injections, you will be, eating even more calories than you are currently consuming. During these two days you want to load up on protein, vegetables, fruits, carbohydrates, and especially fats! This might seem counter-productive to your weight loss goals, but it prepares your body for accessible fat and psychologically prepares you to start the diet. By the second day you should find yourself not as hungry as the HCG has had time to build up in your system.

Although you can eat anything you want, we recommend you NOT overindulge in cookies, ice cream, cake, and other high-sugar snacks. If you do, you may find yourself dealing with headaches and other symptoms of sugar withdrawal during the first weeks of your diet, so mix it up a little!

These days are of the utmost importance. If you normally consume 2000 calories a day, you consume at least 3000 calories on the 1st and 2nd days—50% more than usual. This helps trick the brain into thinking that the body is not going into starvation mode and allow it to release fat easier.

HCG Injections:

When you wake up in the morning use the bathroom, weigh yourself and take your HCG shot before you do anything else.

Try to get in the habit of doing this at the same time every morning while you are following the diet plan. It is best to always weigh yourself at the same time and on the same scale. Record your daily weight in the calendar provided in this booklet.

DIET DAYS 3-23:

For the remainder of your diet program, you will follow a very low calorie diet (VLCD). While it may seem very restrictive remember that the HCG is working to burn more calories that are stored in your body and help alleviate the feeling of hunger. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you stick to the diet as outlined on the following page for the remainder of the diet and for 3 days AFTER you finish your HCG injections to give the HCG time to leave your system.

Maintenance Phases 1-2:

During the maintenance phase 1 you will follow the same protocol for the VLCD, only your caloric intake will not be as restricted, and in phase 2 you will start to introduce other foods back into your diet.
